Settings Dialog

Use the settings dialog to configure advanced slideRush settings.

Best practice

Please note that the best solution is to always use the sheetRush Excel® add-in. Irrespective of your settings in this dialog, slideRush will ALWAYS check for duplicates when running a full update using the “Update Dialog”.
Advanced settings

Duplicating sheets in Excel can result in duplicated slideRush items. To solve this problem slideRush makes use of the sheetRush Excel® add-in to capture any worksheet duplications so that no duplicate slideRush items will ever be created. Nevertheless, problems may arise if a user has not installed or deactivated the sheetRush add-in when duplicating worksheets.

To protect the user from such errors, slideRush offers manifold options and safeguards, some of which can be configured in this settings dialog.

Depending on workbook size and item count all settings can take some time to execute.

The following settings are available

  1. Check for duplicates on item insert: slideRush will scan the full Excel workbook for any duplicate of this single item before inserting it to PowerPoint. Default setting is off.
  2. Check for duplicates on single item updates: slideRush will scan the full Excel workbook for any duplicate of this single item before updating it. Default setting is off.
  3. Check for duplicates on jump to source: slideRush will scan the full Excel workbook for any duplicate of this single item before selecting its data source in Excel. Default setting is off.
  4. Use experimental performance mode: When working with exceptionally large workbooks you may find that checking for duplicates can take some time. Experimental performance mode can perform the duplicate checks in parallel, i.e., typically much faster. Due to some technical restrictions currently made by Microsoft this feature is marked as “Beta”. We do not recommend using performance mode unless you run into severe performance problems with the default operation mode. Default setting is off.
